Day 1 – Transfer from Balmaceda Airport to Baker Domo Lodge

Welcome to the Balmaceda Airport.

The stunning drive from the Balmaceda Airport to Baker Domo Lodge is approximately 80 kilometers of paved road and 248 kilometers of gravel, but lined with constant views of lush, green forests and untouched nature. We will stop several times along the way at for once-in-a-lifetime photos and to enjoy a box lunch featuring local products.

We will see the Bosque Muerto (Dead Forest), now a tree graveyard, which was destroyed by the ashes and eruption of the Hudson volcano in 1930, 1971 and 1991, the largest of all.

The Carretera Austral is one of Chile’s least explored regions and best-kept secrets. You will be graced with awe-inspiring views of winding rivers, lagoons, snow-capped mountains and the bright turquoise waters of Lake General Carrera, Chile’s largest lake, and one that is also shared with Argentina. This scenery will accompany us until we arrive at Lake Bertrand’s outflow into the Baker River.

As we follow the winding Baker River south, we will arrive at the Glacier Province with many of the Northern Ice Field glaciers in sight. From here we will cross the famous “El Manzano hanging bridge”, the site of many local stories, and continue on to our final stop, Baker Domo Lodge. End the day with a Patagonian-style dinner.

Day 5 – Transfer from Baker Domo Lodge to Balmaceda Airport

You will be transferred from Baker Domo to the Balmaceda Airport.
